LOS ANGELES – August x, 2017 – Music’s greatest artists rule on AXS TV, as the network unleashes the Docs That Rock weekly block—airing every Tuesday at 10pE/7pP. The September lineup kicks off on September 12, as hard rock pioneers Led Zeppelin embark on a psychedelic journey of music and cinema, rocking Madison Square Garden with an epic set that includes “Whole Lotta Love,” “Dazed And Confused,” “Stairway To Heaven” and many more, in the 1976 hit LED ZEPPELIN: THE SONG REMAINS THE SAME.
On September 19 explore the untold story of one of the modern blues scene’s most important figures in STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN – LONESTAR: 1984-1989—offering unprecedented access into the guitar virtuoso’s glory days using rare footage, insightful interviews, personal photos, and more, to showcase Vaughan’s glory days following his landmark debut album TEXAS FLOOD all the way through to his tragic death in 1990.
AXS TV closes out the month on September 26 with Oscar®-winning filmmaker Alex Gibney’s explosive examination of the Godfather Of Soul in the 2015 profile MR. DYNAMITE: THE RISE OF JAMES BROWN. Produced by Mick Jagger, the lively piece blends new interviews with bandmates Christian McBride, Bobby Byrd, Greg Tate, and Jabo Starks, among others, with rarely seen archived footage, to paint a vivid picture of the meteoric rise and enduring legacy of soul superstar James Brown.
October’s lineup includes more premiere events, featuring the Academy Award®-winning documentary chronicling the landmark music festival WOODSTOCK – 3 DAYS OF PEACE & MUSIC, starring Jimi Hendrix, Richie Havens and The Who (Oct. 3); a look at the incredible story of one of rock’s original super-groups BAD COMPANY (Oct. 10); the blue-eyed soul story of THE DOOBIE BROTHERS: LET THE MUSIC PLAY (Oct. 17); and the revealing 1991 tell-all MADONNA: TRUTH OR DARE (Oct. 31).
Then, coming in November, a profile of one of Country music’s most beloved voices in ALAN JACKSON: SMALL TOWN SOUTHERN MAN (Nov. 7); an in-depth look at one of The Doors’ signature hits in THE DOORS: MR. MOJO RISIN’ – THE STORY OF L.A. WOMAN (Nov. 14); Martin Scorsese’s chronicle of The Band’s star-studded final bow in THE LAST WALTZ, with performances by Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Eric Clapton (Nov. 21); and the premiere of one of the most groundbreaking music festivals of all-time, THE US FESTIVAL 1982: THE US GENERATION DOCUMENTARY (Nov. 28). The film tells the story of the 1982 Us Festival, dubbed the “Woodstock Of The ‘80s,” which was co-created by Apple visionary Steve Wozniak and featured an eclectic and unprecedented roster of talent that included The Ramones, Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, The Grateful Dead, Santana, and many more, performing live in front of two million people at Glen Helen Regional Park in San Bernardino, CA.
The network will also air an intimate biography illustrating the life and legacy of the incomparable John Lennon, using his own personal footage, in IMAGINE: JOHN LENNON (Dec. 5).
